Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral with a variety of properties, including:
Color: Malachite is a bright green color with light green streaks and can range from pastel green to dark green with peacock-like spots.  Has a hardness of 3.5–4.0 on the Mohs scale.   Malachite crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system and often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses. 

Malachite is said to have healing properties, including stimulating the immune system, detoxifying the body, and reducing pain and inflammation.  It is said to enhance intuition and self-awareness, and to balance the heart and throat chakras. 

Malachite has been used as a mineral pigment in green paints, in decorative vases, and as an ornamental stone. It was also used to decorate the palaces of the Russian tsars.
