Fluorite can grow into spheres through a process called botryoidal growth: start as a nucleus. 
 Fluorite begins as a speck of dust, sand, or other particulate matter.   Grow fibrous crystals: Fibrous crystals grow out from the nucleus.   Overlapping spheres: as the spheres grow, they can overlap with other nearby spheres, fusing together to form a botryoidal cluster. 

Fluorite crystals can also be formed when hot water containing fluorine and other minerals interacts with calcium-rich limestone bedrock. This process can occur when the water is forced up through cracks in the earth. 

Spherical fluorite crystals are believed to have a number of metaphysical properties, including: 
Protection and stabilization.  Fluorite is considered to be a highly protective and stabilizing stone. 

Fluorite is associated with cleansing and balancing the aura, is believed to promote clarity and focus and energy balance and the energy around you and your environment as well.  Fluorite is said to stimulate the third eye chakra. Fluorite is said to boost psychic communication. 
Spiritual balance: Fluorite is said to improve spiritual balance is also used to clear the mind of confusion, cluttered thoughts, and negativity.
