Formation (SiO 2): Ocean Jasper is a form of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz. It forms within ancient rhyolitic lava flows. As these volcanic rocks cool, silica-rich fluids permeate and replace the original minerals in a process called silicification.  The varying colors – greens, lavenders, reddish-browns – come from different mineral impurities like iron oxides (for reds/browns) and trace elements embedded within the silica matrix during its formation.

Drusy Pockets (SiO 2): The sparkling "caves" within this specimen are lined with drusy quartz. Drusy forms when a layer of tiny, glittering crystals (in this case, quartz) grow on the surface of another mineral, often inside a cavity. These pockets represent natural voids in the rock where ideal conditions allowed these small, sparkling crystals to grow, adding an extra layer of allure and rarity.
